TAT: Arkansas Basketball A-Z - Anderson

This article originally appeared on December 14, 2013 on The Arkansas Traveler website, uatrav.com.

Mike Anderson is in his third year as the head coach of the Razorbacks. If history repeats itself, this season will be special for Arkansas
In his third season at his last job, the 2008-09 season, Anderson led Missouri to a Big XII Championship and an appearance in the Elite Eight.
After winning an average of 19 games in his first two seasons with the Tigers, Missouri won 31 games and finished the season ranked No. 8 in the Coaches’ Poll.
Through nine games this season, the Razorbacks are 7-2 and averaging a Southeastern Conference-leading 85.1 points per game. The only blemishes on Arkansas’ schedule are losses to Cal and No. 11 Gonzaga at the Maui Invitational.
The Tigers started the 2008-09 season 8-1, with its lone loss on the road against Xavier, and averaged 87.2 points per game.
It is still too early to tell if the Razorbacks will make the NCAA tournament, let alone the Elite Eight, but a key to Arkansas’ success in SEC play will be how well Anderson manages his players.

This is the first of a series of short articles about the Arkansas basketball team. Each day leading up to SEC play, I will post an entry about something basketball related that starts with the next letter of the alphabet. Here's the dates of the next five...
