Woodland, 7, Bentonville Black, 6
THE
GAME: Luke Waller scored Woodland’s only touchdown of the night on an 11-yard
run in the first quarter, as the Cowboys (3-0) edged Bentonville Black at Tiger
Stadium.
Black
(1-2) got in the red zone twice in the first half, but didn’t score. It also
had an opportunity to win the game late in the fourth quarter after a blocked
punt, but an interception by Barrett Bannister clinched the Woodland victory.
“Our
kids just battled,” Woodland coach Bobby Crockett said. “We talk about
adversity every week. Adversity hit us two or three times tonight and they didn’t
quit.”
Black’s
Jacob Clark scored on a 22-yard run in the third quarter, but a failed
two-point conversion was the difference in the game.
Andrew
Ellis added 114 all-purpose yards for the Cowboys, while Clark finished with
161 yards on the ground for the Tigers.
Bentonville
Fulbright beat Woodland 14-13 in the eighth-grade game.

NEXT: Bentonville Black faces Springdale Southwest next week, while Woodland
