TAT: By the Numbers (Feb. 5)


These stats were originally compiled for the February 5, 2014 issue of The Arkansas Traveler.

92.6 - Free throw percentage by the Arkansas men’s basketball team in its 88-74 loss at LSU Saturday. The Razorbacks were 25-of-27 from the charity stripe. It was Arkansas’ second-highest free throw percentage in a Southeastern Conference game.
94.1 - Highest free throw percentage by the Razorbacks in an SEC game. Arkansas was 16-of-17 from the free throw line Feb. 12, 2005, when they beat LSU 65-62 at Bud Walton Arena.
4 - Times the Razorbacks have made 90 percent or more of their free throws in an SEC game when attempting at least 15. On top of the games mentioned above, in 2004, Arkansas beat South Carolina while making 22-of-24 (91.7 percent) and beat Ole Miss while making 48-of-53 (90.6 percent).
15 - Points scored by senior Kikko Haydar against LSU Saturday. His top three scoring games all came in road losses. He scored 15 in the Razorbacks’ loss at LSU Saturday, 13 in a loss at No. 3 Michigan last season and 10 in a loss at Tennessee earlier this season.
7 - Losses by the Arkansas women’s basketball team this season. All seven losses have been by 10 points or fewer. It is the first time in UA history that the first seven losses of a season have been by a margin of 10 points or fewer.
6.4 - Average margin of defeat by the women’s basketball team this season. That is 30.4 percent closer that last year’s average margin of defeat (9.2 points in 13 losses).
7.3 - Assists per game by junior Calli Berna. That is first in the SEC and fourth in the NCAA. The closest SEC players to Berna are Texas A&M’s Jordan Jones and Ole Miss’ Valencia McFarland, who each average 6.2 per game.
16.8 - Points per game by freshman Jessica Jackson. That is third in the SEC and first among freshmen in the SEC. She also averages 1.5 blocks per game, which is tied for sixth-most in the conference.
13 - Top 25 teams that competed at the Razorback Invitational track meet Friday and Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center. On the men’s side, No. 1 Arkansas defeated No. 2 Florida, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Florida State, No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Texas and No. 20 Stanford. On the women’s side, No. 7 Arkansas defeated No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Florida, No. 9 Stanford and No. 17 Florida State.
4:34.22 - Time of senior Grace Heymsfield’s mile run at the Razorback Invitational Saturday. That time broke the UA record and was the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season.
5,923 - Points scored by senior Kevin Lazas in the heptathlon at the Razorback Invitational, the most in the NCAA this season. The defending indoor national champion won four of the seven events and topped the previous NCAA season-best score by 112 points.
49.450 - Vault rotation score by the Arkansas gymnastics team against Auburn Friday. That tied the UA record, which was most recently scored at the 2012 NCAA Super Six competition.
6 - Consecutive years that a former Arkansas football player appeared in the Super Bowl. This season, Alvin Bailey and Tarvaris Jackson played for the Seattle Seahawks, who won Super Bowl XLVIII 43-8 over the Denver Broncos.
